O2 is currently migrating their broadband to a new infrastructure which will affect customers using O2’s Boostbox service.
There will be an initial 30 minute outage to the service after 00.01 on Thursday 5 June. Customers will then be migrated in small groups over a 2 week period, where each customer will experience 2 x 5 minute outages. The 5 minute outages will occur between midnight and 6.00am and are expected to begin on Thursday 12 June and continue until Thursday 26 June.
What’s the impact?
Initial Network configuration changes after 00.01 on Thursday 5 June:
All Boostboxes will experience up to a 30 minute outage after midnight on this date.
Individual Migrations after 00.01 on Friday 13 June:
Any Boostboxes that are connected to standard ADSL lines will experience a small outage of approximately 5 minutes and will not require any action. If you are currently connected to a corporate LAN/firewall you will need to reconfigure the firewall settings, please see below for details.
No action necessary. Normal functionality should resume after a downtime of approximately 5 minutes.
Corporate LAN/firewall Setup
If you are currently connected to a corporate LAN/firewall you will need to reconfigure the firewall settings prior to the migration to ensure that the Boostbox continues to function correctly. This can be completed prior to the changes with old and new firewall settings in place simultaneously. Boostboxes will experience an outage of approximately 5 minutes through the night.
