LOCAL football team, Forest Green Rovers, has united with Gloucestershire telecoms company Lister Unified Communications to score their fundraising goal for Meningitis Now.
The team are encouraging their fans to bring in their unwanted mobile phones to take part in Lister Unified Communications mobile phone recycling scheme, raising vital funds for the leading UK meningitis charity towards pioneering preventative research, lifesaving awareness and support.
Dane Vince, Business Development Manager, at Forest Green Rovers said:
“We’re really excited to get involved Lister Unified Communications and Meningitis Now, supporting the charity and the life changing work they do.
“We will be launching the scheme to our fans on a match day, during our home game against Torquay United on New Year’s Day. It’s something people of all ages can get involved in, and it’s a chance to put old phones to good use, and help raise money for a good cause.
“We have also invited members of our schools ambassadors scheme along on the day to get involved in a shootout competition at half-time, with a fantastic array of prizes from Lister Unified Communications up for grabs, including two Windows based tablets.”
The scheme launches on Friday 1 January and will run until Forest Green’s final home match that month on Saturday 30 January. Mobile phone recycling bins will be located in reception at the club’s New Lawn Stadium.
Meningitis Now is the UK’s leading charity working to save lives and rebuild the futures of people affected by meningitis through research, support and awareness.
