The national finals of the largest international tournament series for amateur golfers beckoned for Rob Lister, managing director of Lister Unified Communications.

Rob took part in the two-day invite-only BMW Golf Cup 2018 alongside Andrew Hulcoop, managing director at Cotswold BMW.

Competitors at the world-famous home of golf, St Andrews, were treated to a cocktail reception and welcome dinner, two rounds (practice and competition) on the Castle Course then a champagne reception and presentation dinner back at the hotel.

The qualifier winners at St Andrews will go on to the World Final in Mexico next March where they will form a team of three representing BMW UK against the rest of the world. Unfortunately – with a mid-table finish, Rob didn’t make the cut.

However, with over 100,000 amateur golfers teeing off at local, regional and national qualifying events taking place in 50 countries around the world, it was a real achievement to get to this stage.

Rob said: “I am thrilled to have made it this far in such a prestigious tournament and grateful for the superb hospitality and lavish dinners in the Old Course Hotel over an outstanding few days.

“Entertainment from BBC Sport commentator, Andrew Cotter, and the former winning Ryder Cup captain, Paul McGinley, really topped it off.

“Great fun and a big thank you, Cotswold BMW, for inviting me”
