Give your old IT equipment a new purpose

At Lister, we're always looking for practical ways to support good causes while helping reduce waste.

That's why we're encouraging customers to consider donating surplus IT equipment to the ITSA Digital Trust, a Cheltenham-based charity that refurbishes and repurposes technology for education and community projects in the UK and Africa. The charity's mission is to improve access to computers and digital education, helping tackle digital exclusion and create new opportunities for people who might otherwise be left behind.

The impact goes beyond the equipment itself. Donated devices are refurbished through programmes that provide skills development and practical work experience opportunities for people who might not otherwise have access to them. By extending the life of your technology, you're supporting both environmental sustainability and social impact.

As part of our commitment to supporting the initiative, Lister Director Jim Clapham has become an ambassador for the ITSA Digital Trust. Jim is available to help customers understand the process, answer questions and arrange collections directly with the charity.

“I think this is a great initiative because we speak to businesses all the time that have stuff sitting in cupboards or struggle to get rid of it because of the expense and hassle. Through the ITSA Digital Trust, they can do this easily and responsibly in a way that helps others and supports a good cause.”

What can be donated?

ITSA Digital Trust is currently able to accept:

• Working desktop computers and laptops (typically up to seven years old)
• Windows 7 and newer devices
• Flat-screen monitors
• Chargers and power supplies
• Keyboards and mice
• Cables and power leads

The charity provides secure handling of donated equipment and works with businesses to make the process as straightforward as possible.

If your organisation has IT equipment that is no longer needed and you'd like to explore donating it, speak to Jim Clapham. As a Lister ambassador for the charity, he can talk you through the process and help coordinate collections directly with ITSA Digital Trust.

Don't forget our mobile device recycling scheme

While ITSA Digital Trust focuses on computers and IT equipment, Lister also continues to offer a separate recycling service for mobile devices, raising funds in support of The Nelson Trust. If you have old mobile phones, tablets or related devices that need recycling, our team can advise on the appropriate route to maximise the benefit to charity.
