Lister footballers triumph in business tournament

Teams from all over the area - including Grundon, Renishaw, Montpellier Legal, Stroud Brewery, Jewsons and Ecotricity - took part in the tournament, hosted by Forest Green Rovers.

In their group, Lister faced Belgian company Candriam (B) in their first match, beating them 4-0, followed by a 0-0 draw with Forest Oak Farm., finishing top of the group after beating Student Energy Group 3-0.

In the quarter-finals Lister faced Reflo (FGR's kit sponsor), which finished 0-0 but Lister won on penalties 5-4.

After beating Candriam (A) 3-0 in the semi-final, this setup a tight final against Omega Resources which Lister won 1-0.

Team captain Harvey Long said: "Huge thanks to Forest Green Rovers Football Club and everyone involved in organising this. The set-up, atmosphere and competition throughout the day made for an incredible event.

"It was great to spend the day with local businesses, clients, partners and friends - and even better to come away unbeaten and lift the trophy after some brilliant performances from the team. We're already looking forward to defending the title in 2027."
