January 31, 2027, is D-Day when PSTN services will finally be turned off by BT Openreach for analogue and ISDN Lines which will affect phone calls and other services over these lines and your Broadband connections that rely on analogue lines such as ADSL and FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet) Broadband will also cease to work.
The countdown at the time of issuing this newsletter is:
The main upgrade paths are moving to internet-based VoIP phones systems, FTTP(Fibre to the Premises) Broadband where available and SoGEA or 4G/5GMobile Broadband.
Even if you have already moved your telephony to VoIP and have upgraded your main internet connectivity, please don’t forget some of your peripheral equipment such as lift lines, alarms and CCTV, to door entry systems and ATMs all could be potentially affected. Check your bills to see if there are any analogue line rentals still being paid for.
If you have not got around to it yet or you are hesitant to move from your legacy services, there are great benefits to be gained from migration to new fibre-based solutions that bring improved features, speed and can reduce operating costs.
And there may be cost savings available, so now is the time to get ahead and plan your migration. Please don’t wait until the last minute as there is already huge pressure on service providers to complete the upgrades and port your numbers.
To encourage you to accelerate these upgrades, BT Openreach have announced large increases in line rentals (up to 40%) coming soon with the potential for more later in the year.
If you need help making all this happen, please contact your account manager or our sales team at sales@lister-communications.co.uk or call 01453 829200.
